Weather

Softball gets played in the rain. Games are called for lightning, standing water, and unsafe footing, not for a forecast.

When conditions are marginal we shorten before we cancel. Pool games can drop to a time limit with no new inning, bracket games can shorten, and start times can move earlier or later to work around a system. Every call is made on site by the tournament director and posted to the portal, with a text to the coach listed on your entry. Check the portal before you drive.

Lightning suspends play for 30 minutes from the last strike or thunder, and the clock restarts with each new strike. Players and spectators must leave the fields for their vehicles. Cosca Regional Park may operate its own lightning detection system, and when it activates, the park's all clear governs regardless of conditions on the field.

If weather stops the event:

• No games played: full refund of the entry fee less a $25 administrative fee

• Pool play started but stopped before bracket play: 50 percent of the entry fee refunded

• Bracket play started: the event is considered complete and no refund is issued

Softball Nation team membership is paid directly to Softball Nation and is never refundable by MASC.

Rosters and sanctioning

Every MASC event is sanctioned by Softball Nation. Teams must hold a current Softball Nation membership, which is separate from the entry fee.
